Comodo is now Xcitium: what changed and what stayed
Do you use Comodo or ITarian, or know Comodo's well-known auto-containment? Then you have already come across Xcitium. This is what changed. Updated on 23 October 2026.
From Comodo to Xcitium
Xcitium describes itself as "formerly known as Comodo Security Solutions": the security division of Comodo continued under the Xcitium name. The technology Comodo was known for, auto-containment of unknown files, has been developed further into ZeroDwell and forms the core of the Xcitium platform. You will still regularly come across the Comodo name in the platform, in documentation and in news items.
What does this mean for you?
Containment remains the core
The well-known auto-containment is now called ZeroDwell and has been extended with EDR, XDR and a 24/7 SOC.
ITarian
You may know the IT management platform (RMM, patch management, helpdesk) as ITarian; it is part of the Xcitium platform.
One console
Security and management are in one cloud console and one agent.
Local point of contact
Spiredesk is the official Xcitium distributor for the Netherlands, for new and existing users.
Comodo, Xcitium and Sectigo: do not confuse them

That depends on the product and the term. Get in touch and we will find out for you and discuss the options at renewal.
Is Xcitium the same company as Comodo?
Xcitium emerged from Comodo Security Solutions. Other parts of the former Comodo, such as the certificate authority (now Sectigo), are separate companies.
Can existing Comodo or Xcitium customers go through Spiredesk?
Yes. As the official distributor we are happy to take over existing customers and partners, for example at the next renewal.
